The Return of Faker
Part 1
By Kevin Drew

Palace Eternia during late evening and Teela and Duncan are going over records on the computer on some of Skeletor’s henchmen.

Teela: Kobra Khan, he is still being held at the Repticons for cutting off their heat source.

Duncan: Yes, and Trap-Jaw and Beast Man are both safely within the palace prison. Is that everyone of Skeletor’s Goons accounted for?

Teela: I believe so father. Other than the few like Whiplash and Evil-Lyn which are still hiding out at Snake Mountain.

Prince Adam enters with Orko behind him.

Adam: Hi Teela, Duncan. What’s going on?

Teela: We’re updating the palace records on current known locations for all of Skeletor’s goons. I believe we’ve got them all, but maybe you could come over here and see if there’s any that we’ve missed.

Adam gazes at the list of names.

Adam: What about Modulok? I know he’s in Etheria now, but he was stirring up trouble one time here when he was trying to get under Skeletor’s services.

Duncan: Good thinking. You’ll never know when he might decide to dump the Horde and come back. Let’s see if you can think of any others.

The scene changes to near Castle Grayskull. Slowly, it’s zoomed to a portion of the abyss around Grayskull. A familiar hand which has He-Man’s skin tone emerges and appears to be struggling as it reaches out of the abyss as if he were climbing out. The scene changes to a place near Grayskull and a silhouette of the man with He-Man’s build tired walks off towards the direction of Snake Mountain.

Another scene change and it’s now at Snake Mountain. Skeletor is sitting in his throne room with Evil-Lyn sitting with him at his table.

Skeletor: Fools! Idiots! That’s all I have to work with. Eternia will never be mine if I have such pitiful warriors at my side.

Evil-Lyn: Now Skeletor. If it wasn’t for that meddlesome He-Man, we’d be into Grayskull now and Randor and his family would be mopping your floors.

Skeletor: He-Man! The same excuse I get from all off you. Always He-Man! You’re no better, witch! I haven’t seen you come up with any fantastic ideas.

Evil-Lyn: Just remember, if you had any…

Evil-Lyn gets cut off by the ground suddenly shaking. A second rumble sends Skeletor out of his throne and to the floor. The rumbles continues as Skeletor struggles to his feet.

Evil-Lyn: What in the world is that?

Skeletor: We’re being attacked. But by whom.

Skeletor struggles to look into his globe embedded in his table. From behind, he sees He-Man repeatedly punching into the side of Snake Mountain.

Skeletor: What’s this?

Evil-Lyn: It’s He-Man! What’s he doing here?

Skeletor: He’s attacking Snake Mountain. Can’t you even see now, witch?

Evil-Lyn just glares at Skeletor.

Skeletor: I’ll find out what the meaning of this is.

Skeletor picks up his havoc staff, which fell to the floor from the shaking. He holds the staff up and he disappears. He reappears behind He-Man at the base of Snake Mountain where small rocks and dust is being kicked up and flying around.

Skeletor: He-Man! I demand to know what the meaning of this is!

He-Man turns around and faces Skeletor. He’s covered with dirt and old cobwebs are wrapped around his arms and legs. One of the straps on his chest plate is even ripped apart. He speaks with a ghostly voice.

Faker: Look again, bone face.

Skeletor notices the slight difference in the voice and looks closer, and then realizes that there’s a glow in the eyes.

Skeletor: You! But, you fell into the abyss at Castle Grayskull!

Faker: That’s right, Skeletor. And when you left that day, you forgot all about me and left me to fall forever in that pit! And now, I’m back.

Faker continues to punch at Snake Mountain. Skeletor struggles to think up something quickly to stop Faker from destroying Snake Mountain.

Skeletor: Faker! Wait! I tried to rescue you, but you were too far into the abyss for me to reach you with my magic. The man you should be angry at is He-Man. He let you fall into the abyss. He could’ve stopped you if he wanted to, but, no, he decided to let you fall to your doom.

Faker stops punching to consider Skeletor’s comment.

Skeletor: I’ve got a plan that might interest you to get your revenge on that muscle bound hero.

Faker: I’m listening.

Skeletor: In every aspect, you and He-Man are exactly alike, except, he has two things which you don’t have which gives him an edge over you. One is coradite that his chest plate is made of. It adds to his power and the widgets are what guard it. And the other is his sword. That sword is from Grayskull and contains the power within that castle’s walls. Get those and you will be able to defeat He-Man and capture Grayskull for me.

Faker: Very well then. I will go immediately to the widgets and take the coradite.

Skeletor: Wait! We must clean you up. And we won’t have to take the coradite. They’ll give it to you. You are, afterall, He-Man.

Skeletor laughs. The scene turns to the coradite processing plant where Squinch and Kando are checking the storage rooms and taking inventory of all the coradite.

Squinch: Phew. Counting all this coradite is hard work.

Kando: Squinch, keep counting! We have to get this report to the palace by morning. Make sure all the coradite that’s been mined is accounted for.

Squinch: Aye aye.

Kando: Just a coupe more piles and we’ll be done. With Man-At-Arms updating all of the palaces records we’ll need to be as accurate as we can.

Squinch: I just want to get this done so I go back to our fort to see Lara.

Kando: Just keep your mind on the job, Squinch.

A voice calls from outside which the widgets think is He-Man.

Faker: Hello, anybody in there?

Kando and Squinch both walk out to greet him.

Squinch: He-Man! What are you doing here?

Faker: I came to pick up some coradite. Um…the..ah.. Sorceress asked me to pick some up.

Kando: The Sorceress? What does she want with the coradite?

Faker: She didn’t tell me. Just asked me to get some for her. Do you have any by chance?

Kando: Sure thing, He-Man. Squinch, go grab some right away.

Squinch goes to the storage room.

Kando: So, how’s She-Ra?

Faker: She-Ra?

Kando: Your sister… how is she?

Faker: Oh, her, uhm..well yes, she’s fine. Just fine.

Squinch returns with some coradite in a sack.

Squinch: There you go, He-Man. And say hi to the Sorceress for me!

Faker: Thanks…uhm..sure.

Faker quickly leaves.

Kando: Strange. Squinch! Did you mark that piece down on the inventory?

Squinch: Aye aye, sir! One piece of coradite given to He-Man.

Back at Snake Mountain, Skeletor is looking into his view screen.

Skeletor: Excellent Faker. Meet me at Volcano Cave. We’ll shape the coradite to match your chest plate now.

Faker: Very well, Skeletor.

Palace Eternia. Man-at-Arms, Prince Adam, Teela, and Orko have just finished finalizing his criminal report.

Teela: Finally, the report can be filed. Now for the plant inventory from the widgets.

Adam: Good, lets get this over with. It’s getting late and we should be going to bed.

Orko: Yeah, I’m pooped.

Duncan: Good point. You three go ahead to bed. I’m just going to get this started then finish off tomorrow.

Teela: Okay father. Good night.

Adam and Teela start towards the door. Orko speeds by everyone through the doorway.

Orko: Good night.

Adam: Don’t stay up too late, Duncan.

Duncan: Wait Adam. Come over here for a second.

Adam: What’s going on?

Duncan: Were you at the coradite plant at all today?

Adam: No, I’ve been here with you most of the day. Why?

Duncan: Well, there’s a note here written by Squinch that He-Man picked up a piece of coradite.

Adam: What?!? How’s that possible?

Duncan: I don’t know. I’ll contact the plant to see of the widgets are still there.

Man-at-arms presses some buttons on his control panel.

Duncan: No response. We should go to Widget Castle to find out what we can. Looks like we’re in for a long night

Adam: Seems so. I better change. By the power of Grayskull.

Classic transformation sequence from Prince Adam to He-Man.

He-Man: I have the power!

Duncan: Let’s grab a couple Road Rippers. They’ll get us there the fastest.

He-Man: Right.

Night has fallen and the scene is at Volcano Cave. Faker and Skeletor are near the lava about to mold the coradite.

Faker: You’re sure this will work?

Skeletor: Of course, you ninny. I’ve done this before. Now, to cast the spell.

Beams come out of Skeletor’s eyes. The melted coradite changes to a replica of He-Man’s chest plate. Faker seeing this, he shoves Skeletor out of the way, forcing him to drop the chest plate on the ground.

Faker: Out of my way bone face!

Skeletor: What are you doing? How dare you treat your master like this!

Faker picks up the coradite chest plate, rips his own off and puts the new one on. Immediately a quick glow surrounds Faker then vanishes. Skeletor is getting back on his feet.

Faker: Ah, yes! I can feel my power increasing. Now I have the power! Ha ha ha ha!

Skeletor: Not yet you fool. You’ve yet to get He-Man’s sword!

Faker looks over at Skeletor with a smirk on his face.

Faker: Oh that will be arranged. But now, I have no use for you.

Faker starts stalking towards Skeletor. Skeletor tries to defend himself with his magic that doesn’t seem to affect Faker at all.

Skeletor: Stop! You can’t. I’m your master!

Faker: Your magic won’t affect me Skeletor, it created me! And now that the coradite adds to my existence, there’s nothing you can do to stop me.

The scene fades with Skeletor’s screaming "Noooooo….."

Widget Fortress, late night. He-Man and Duncan have just knocked on the front door of the fort. Kando opens the door in his nightclothes. He answers drowsily until he realizes who’s at the door.

Kando: Yes? He-Man?! Man-at-Arms? What’re you doing here at this time of night?

He-Man: Sorry for waking you up, Kando. We may have a problem on our hands.

Duncan: We were looking over the coradite report you sent us and I noticed that He-Man picked up a piece of coradite earlier today.

Kando: That’s right. Don’t you remember, He-Man? You said the Sorceress needed it for something. Come to think of it, you didn’t seem so certain of yourself, either.

He-Man: What do you mean?

Kando: Well, while Squinch was gone to get the coradite for you, I was trying to stir up some friendly conversation about She-Ra. It’s like you didn’t know who she was.

Duncan: Interesting.

He-Man: Kando, whoever you talked to earlier today, wasn’t me.

Kando: What?!

Duncan: Someone impersonated He-Man, and did a good enough job to fool you to thinking that he really was He-Man.

Kando: Well, I’ll go get my men and track down this impostor.

He-Man: Better not. If he has coradite with him, he could be a serious threat. Put some more guards on the coradite plant, we’ll take care of this impostor.

Man-At-Arms and He-Man back on their Road Rippers going through the forest.

Duncan: What do you think?

He-Man: I’m not sure. I was thinking that it could be Skeletor, but I’m not so sure now. Whoever this person is, must not know of Etheria and my sister. What’s really bothering me is who it is. I’ve run through everyone in my head that I know who can shape-shift or use magic to disguise themselves. But none of them fit the picture. I’m missing something here. Any thoughts yourself?

Duncan: I’m thinking that it could be some sort of a robot or android. That might explain the lack of knowledge about She-Ra. It may have only been programmed to answer specific questions.

He-Man: Good thinking. Lets head to Volcano Cave. If whoever this is, plans to mold the coradite, that’ll be the first place they’ll go.

Snake Mountain. Faker is shown walking to the ledge of the mountain snake’s mouth. Faker gazes out at the land.

Faker: After defeating Skeletor, I thought this place would make an excellent place to use as my fortress. However, since my power has surpassed Skeletor’s. Snake Mountain is no longer suitable to represent that power. It is more suited, as a junkyard.

Faker steps back into the mouth of the snake. He raises his fists and slams them down on the ground. The floor cracks away as the entire bottom jaw of the snake breaks off and crumbles down the side of the mountain.

Faker: Excellent! The power within me is great. It is time, then, to take my true palace, Castle Grayskull!

Faker laughs! The scene changes back to Volcano Cave. Man-At-Arms and He-Man are looking around for clues.

Duncan: Looks like there were two people here. Look here, two sets of prints in the dust.

He-Man: What do you make of this?

He-Man points out an area where the dust was randomly cleared away.

Duncan: Looks like some sort of struggle. It seems that one set of prints walks out of the scuffle dragging something with it.

He-Man: The tracks lead down this tunnel. Let’s follow them. Be careful, it’s rather dark.

Light emanates from a cuff on both Man-At-Arms and He-Man.

He-Man: The trail continues down here. Wait a minute.

Duncan: What is it?

He-Man: There appears to be a cave-in. Seems fresh, as well, there’s a bit more dust in the air in this area.

Duncan: Could what we are looking for be behind those rocks?

He-Man: Only one way to find out. Stand back.

He-Man starts scooping large piles of rocks away from the entrance, being careful not to create another cave-in.

He-Man: I’ve broken through. Pass me a light so I can see what’s in there.

Man-At-Arms pulls some beads out of his belt. He twists one of the beads and they start to glow. He passes the beads to He-Man. He-Man tosses the beads inside the hole to light up the chamber within. Gazing inside, a look of shock appears on He-Man’s face and he starts removing more rocks with intensity.

Duncan: What is it? What did you…..wha…What?!

Once enough rocks were removed, Man-At-Arms was finally able to see what shocked He-Man so much. Unconscious on the ground in the chamber lies Skeletor with dust on him. He runs up to Skeletor and checks for a heartbeat.

He-Man: Is he…?

Duncan: He’s alive, but just barely. We have to get him to the palace immediately.

He-Man carefully picks Skeletor up and carries him outside to their vehicles. They then speed off towards the palace.
